PEM’s Solvent Weld Belling Machines are designed to minimize the amount of operator interaction required during the belling process. Features include narrow construction for maximum use of available space, quick tool change over, and tool compatibility between different size machines.

CONSISTENT QUALITY

Heater depth and bell depth positioning are completely automated to ensure consistency and quality of the pipe bell. Adjustments for the pipe size and bell length are set one time, at the beginning of each run. Before the pipe enters the heating station, the chip blower removes remaining chips left from the cutting process to eliminate interference with proper belling, and time-controlled heating ensures the pipe doesn’t overheat even if the rest of the line stops. The bell is then set and cooled with water spray so that it does not deform during extraction.

MULTIPLE CONFIGURATIONS

Our Solvent Weld Belling Machines can be configured to accommodate your requirements. Configurations include left-or-right hand operation with upstream or downstream end belling. Two bellers can be used together or dual bellers are available with either same end or alternate end belling. Our engineering team will work with you to ensure your belling machine meets your process requirements.

DESIGNED FOR CONSISTENT BELL DEFINITION

PEM offers multiple styles of Gasket Belling Machines to fit the needs of our customers. One style is our Vacuum Belling Machines, which are built for pipes ranging in size from 1 ½ to 12-inches. For heavier walled, large diameter pipe, we offer Pressure Belling Machines which utilize a pressure chamber to bell pipes ranging in size from 4 to 60-inches.  An optional vacuum assist feature can be added to some of our Pressure Belling Machines to aid in drawing the pipe down around the gasket for superior bell definition.    

 

RELIABILITY YOU CAN TRUST 

PEM strives to keep machinery operation as effortless as possible by allowing users to easily set heater depth and bell positioning with simple adjustments or recipe changes.  Some of our belling machines also have an optional “Spectrum Heater” upgrade, which monitors pipe temperatures in each heat zone and uses Spectrum Quartz Tube IR Heaters to maintain consistent control of pipe temperatures.  Each of our belling machines features an automatic gasket loading system that stores and applies gaskets to the mandrel during the automatic belling cycle. Chips are cleared from each pipe by use of a chip blower, prior to the heating cycle, to prevent interference with proper belling.  I.D. Chamfer Units with built-in vacuum ports are also available on these machines and are used for chamfering the bell end of 4-inch and larger pipe sizes to remove sharp edges and aid in both the belling process and pipe installation.
